Details
Bring real-world STEM challenges to life with Engineering Task Cards for grades 3–5.
Designed for upper elementary classrooms, STEM labs, after-school programs, homeschool learning, and district-wide science initiatives, these task cards help students build problem-solving skills through hands-on, phenomenon-based engineering challenges.
Each card introduces a real-world science or engineering scenario, then invites students to design, build, test, improve, and explain their solution. With open-ended prompts and no single right answer, students strengthen critical 21st century skills, including communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, while practicing the Engineering Design Process in a meaningful, age-appropriate way.
Created for use with the Ozobot Engineering Kit, these student task cards make it easy to add hands-on STEM learning, coding extensions, and collaborative design challenges to your classroom.
What’s Included
30 double-sided engineering task cards for student-led exploration and teacher-facilitated instruction.
Front of Card
Student Prompt
A clear, challenge-based scenario written for independent or small-group problem solving.
Materials List
Simple, hands-on materials pulled from the Engineering Kit to support building, testing, and iteration.
Back of Card
Teacher-Led Prompt
Use Color Codes and Ozobot Evo to extend the challenge, deepen scientific understanding, and connect engineering decisions to coding concepts.
Go Further Extension
An optional extension activity that encourages students to refine their designs, test new variables, explain tradeoffs, and apply higher-level critical thinking.
Phenomena Students Explore
Students investigate real-world science and engineering concepts, including:
- Gravity, speed, motion, and force
- Push and pull interactions
- Earthquakes, avalanches, tornadoes, erosion, and other natural events
- Seasons, ecosystems, and environmental change
- Habitats, food chains, animal migration, and survival strategies
- Waves, tides, and space exploration
- Automation, vehicles, and traffic patterns
- Human body systems, recycling, and sustainability
Flexible Classroom Use
Engineering Task Cards are ideal for:
- STEM centers
- Small group rotations
- Science and engineering blocks
- Fast finishers
- After-school STEM programs
- Makerspaces
- Homeschool STEM activities
- Collaborative problem-based learning
Each task card connects real-world challenges to the K–5 Engineering Kit, helping students move from curiosity to creation as they design solutions, test ideas, and build confidence as young engineers.

What Educators are Saying About Geyer
Justin has been nothing but helpful and professional in my requests for these Boeing Defense requirements. He has been able to answer my questions and concerns quickly, and helped in securing the order that I may have made with another supplier had be not been the value-add that he is to your company. I hope his merit raise this FY was "exceeds expectations".
Jesse C...I contacted Geyer via email. I had an email back within minutes!.. A back and forth via email sometimes takes days with other companies and customer service doesn’t happen like this very often. When it does, it’s much appreciated. Brett at Geyer was very polite and accommodating!
John C.The customer service rep went as far as to reach out to the manufacturer of a product to answer my question, and then provided pictures. She really went above and beyond and answered the question thoroughly and gave me exactly the information I was looking for. This entire process was also extremely fast.
Robert C.I called to ask how to submit a Tax Exempt Certificate for my library and spoke to a real person, no automation or asking me to press a number. He was friendly, helpful and got our Tax Exempt status established immediately.
Mischelle F....I don't think I've ever experienced that level of customer service before, and taking it into consideration along with the quality of their products, I would absolutely recommend Geyer to fellow teachers.
